The new year is a great time to refresh, declutter and get organized!

I spent the end of 2018 decluttering, donating and organizing the entire house. While most do that in the spring, it’s just too darn hot here in the spring to be hauling stuff in and out of the house so I got a head start, and I’ll tell you what...
It was amazing going into the new year feeling so much lighter and having things organized! After all the Christmas décor was put away, it was the perfect opportunity to refresh a few spaces and focus on home projects.
I donated A LOT, sold a few things and moved some pieces around. One space that has always been a little awkward in our family room is this space underneath the stairs. It’s just kind of… there.
To create balance in the room while keeping the space functional, I added the black and white striped storage bench from Kirkland’s (currently on sale!) where I can store overflow such as seasonal décor, blankets, extra pillows, etc. You could even use it in an entryway to store shoes!
We use the garage entry often, so this bench makes it nice to have a little station where we can sit down to put our shoes on when we’re heading out and take them off when we get home.
It was fun to style it with this cute dark bronze wood and wire side table, a few accessories and a faux succulent. Using greenery, whether it be fresh or faux, is a fantastic and inexpensive way to make a space feel more stylish and revitalized! Especially after the holidays when all the seasonal décor goes back in storage and your home feels bare. ;)
