If you were on this planet during the 80s and 90s then your first instinct may be to cringe when you hear the words "accent wall" or "wallpaper". Don't be so quick to judge - like I was!
There is NOTHING cringe-worthy about the modern take on bold and beautiful accent wall colors or wallpaper.
That's not to say that won't be the case 20 years from now because that's just the way the cookie crumbles and styles cycle, but right now - this is something to embrace and I'm about to show you why. For mere pennies on the dollar you can completely transform a room with a beautifully bold and dramatic accent wall.
Sherwin Williams Black Fox (SW7020)
Black Fox is a beautiful shade of black that looks more gray in natural light and closer to black when the sun goes down.
One very important tip in selecting a bold accent wall color is to choose a lighter complementary color on the surrounding walls. White is always a safe bet, but in here I chose Sherwin Williams Windfresh White (SW7628) because I'm obsessed with it, and also because I continued that into our master bathroom remodel. I wish I would've discovered Windfresh White when I painted our entire house because I'm wishing I could redo it (Mr. CG would KILL me if I even mentioned that to him, so let's keep that between us m'kay).
Sherwin Williams Dard Hunter Green (SW0041)
I've been searching for the perfect dark green to paint my guest bathroom cabinets in an upcoming remodel and I'm seriously considering this one! I chose this color for a model I recently staged for Providence Homes and instantly fell in love when I laid eyes on this wall.
I immediately knew I wanted black, white and brass accents against that breathtaking green.
The surrounding walls (and main color throughout the model) is Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige (SW7036).
Sherwin Williams Naval (SW6244)
Navy blue is one color that simply never goes out of style. I'd even go as far as to say it's almost as classic as white. This is another accent wall in the Providence Homes model I staged so the surrounding walls are SW Accessible Beige, but this color would also pair well with a light gray such as the SW Windfresh White I talked about earlier.
If Naval is a little too blue for your taste, then another accent blue I love is Behr Calligraphy (N490-6). I used that color in my sons room makeover (click here to view) which has more gray undertones so the blue is a bit more muted. It's a stunner!

I love that blue! I want to paint my RV bathroom a blue grey like that, but I'm afraid the space is too small for it, so I'm stumped! I'll drive it by soon I promise :)
